"You May Not Kiss the Bride"
At the conclusion of a traditional Hawaiian Blessing to ensure safety and success, cast and crew began the first day of filming “You May Not Kiss the Bride” at Turtle Bay Resort on March 16, 2009.
Trucks and equipment began arriving at what is known around Turtle Bay Resort as “LOST base camp” as early as the Friday before in order to be prepared for an early morning start of filming at Kawela Bay. Even quicker than they came in they left. As shooting wrapped early evening, crews packed up and loaded all the equipment and the trucks rolled out and onto the next filming location.
“You May Not Kiss the Bride” is a Hawaii Film Partners film. It is written and directed by Rob Hedden and stars Dave Annable (“Brothers and Sisters”), Katharine McPhee (“American Idol”), Mena Survari (“American Beauty”), Vinnie Jones (“X-Men 3″), Rob Schneider (Don’t Mess with the Zohan) and Tia Carrere (“True Lies”). The movie takes place in Chicago and Tahiti but it will be filmed entirely on location in Hawaii. Slated as a romantic adventure comedy “You May Not Kiss the Bride” involves a pet photographer who accidentally maims the cat of a Croatian mobster’s wife and as an alternative to swimming with the fishes becomes married to the mobster’s daughter so she can become a citizen. From there the plot thickens twists and delightfully turns.
Watch for the release of the film and look for picturesque Kawela Bay in its supporting role in providing spectacular backdrops for the movie.
