"Knots" tied at Turtle Bay Resort

2009-knots-officeImagine you get a call one day from a film company that wants to “tie the knot” at Turtle Bay Resort as in the place to get married, with a movie that will showcase a group of wedding planners that are able to solve every pre-wedding problem imaginable (jitters, mothers-in-law, etc.) but the wedding planners who solved all those problems every day were normal, everyday people, who went home to a regular life. Sound crazy? Not to our full time wedding planning staff. To them it is real life.

So it was not much of a stretch when Knots Productions approached Turtle Bay Resort about filming “Knots”, a movie starring Illeana Douglas, Sung Kang, Mia Riverton, Kimberly-Rose Wolter, Janel Parrish, Henry Dittman, Samantha Quan and Chris Taloa which centers around a family unit that produces the ultimate dream wedding for everyone else….. (we have to leave the rest until release date)….but we will pass this on….

2009-knots-olaCertain she is cursed in marriage, Lily Kim (Kimberly-Rose Wolter) has always steered clear of saying “I do”, until her longtime boyfriend James (Henry Dittman) pops the question. Life turns as she is forced back to family duties, the wedding business, which is run by Lily’s mother, Miriam (Illeana Douglas). Imagine dealing with siblings Twinny (Mia Riverton), who is the true mother of the family and the younger sister Hoku, who craves attention in the worst possible way….and you have a great movie.

Turtle Bay Resort is pleased to join forces with Knots Productions to produce the next movie that we all hope will become an enduring classic just like Forgetting Sarah Marshall….showcasing just how great it is to have a wedding at Turtle Bay Resort. Be sure to watch for the theatrical release next year.

Aloha! My name is Ms. Traion Le, a local Hawaii resident and former Turtle Bay Resort employee. Just wondering if casting for the movie is complete. I am interested in a part. I was in the movie, Forgetting Sarah marshall (wedding scene). It was so much fun! Please let me know! Thank you. Good luck!

We’ve been told that the casting for the lead parts will be in Hollywood. They’ll most likely need some extras once they start shooting (January and February). Keep an eye out with the local talent agencies towards the first of the new year. Good Luck!
