Turtle Bay Honeymoon Gift
When Turtle Bay Resort was asked by People magazine, one of the most widely read magazines in the world, to provide a honeymoon for a couple who had given up theirs in order to help other people in need…..how could we say no?
As part of their 35th birthday celebration, People magazine decided to give back to its readers. Managing Editor Larry Hackett said that “…as a tribute to the relatable, inspiring stories about regular Americans that are a cornerstone of what we do here, we decided…to mark our big year by granting wishes to some of our most deserving readers and heroes.”
Enter Kenneth Clark, who left for basic training for the Air Force in 2006, just after a courthouse wedding to his lovely wife. Over the next two years, the Clarks saved $8,000 in order to go on a great honeymoon. Meanwhile, they met a young man whose mother had been murdered and he and his two sisters were being raised by their great-grandmother. Upon learning of their desperate circumstances, the Clarks gave their honeymoon money to them. (You can read the entire story in the October 19, 2009 issue of People, page 123).
Plans have already been made and Turtle Bay Resort is getting ready to welcome the Clarks and to give the deserving couple the honeymoon that they always dreamed of!

i remember reading that story, what an amazing couple. it’s hard to find people like that these days that are willing to give up their honeymoon that they worked so hard to save up for. they should get a vacation like that every year.
