More Bookmobile Funds

Donation Check presented to Friends of Kahuku Library for Bookmobile 2009Turtle Bay Resort presented the Friends of the Library Kahuku a check in the amount of $8,951.83 on December 15, 2009.

These funds were raised through a silent auction held during the two nights of Turtle Bay Resort’s Fifth Annual Seafood Festival. Turtle Bay Resort and many of its suppliers and friends donated everything from Jack Johnson autographed ukuleles to fine art and dinners to vacation packages.

Over the past years, funds raised from the Seafood Festival’s silent auction have gone to the Friends of the Library Kahuku in order to acquire and outfit a bookmobile to service the North Shore and Ko’olauloa areas. Additional funds are needed every years since the state system has no money to cover the operations of the bookmobile…so Turtle Bay Resort’s involvement will continue in order to cover the costs of drivers and maintenance. Over $50,000 has now been raised.
