Festival of Trees

Excitement filled the air this week as local elementary and pre-schools began decorating a line of trees at Turtle Bay Resort. The participating schools are located along the North Shore and include Ka’a'awa Elementary, Hau’ula Elementary,  La’ie Elementary,  Kahuku Elementary,  Sunset Elementary,  Haleiwa Elementary, Waialua Elementary and Rainbow pre-school. Each school is competing for cash prizes:  1st place gets $250,  2nd place gets $200, and 3rd place gets $150. The rest of the participating schools get an honorable mention and $100 just for participating. In addition, resort guests are allowed to vote for their favorite tree and we will give the school receiving the “people’s choice” vote an additional $100.

We also have a a box at the conference kiosk for guests to leave monetary donations for a specific school. All funds received there will be passed on to the indicated school. Last year we gave out $1,200 in cash prizes and passed on an additional $300 from guest donations.

Come to Turtle Bay Resort for the Holidays and check out the students’ work…and be prepared to donate. Let’s make this year’s contributions well surpass last year’s!
