Surfer Poll 2010
After being held for 39 years on the mainland, Surfer Magazine is bringing their 40th anniversary of the Surfer Poll to Turtle Bay Resort, making the event part of the festivities surrounding the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Surfer Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Joel Patterson stated that “Moving Surfer Poll to the North Shore is a no-brainer. Hawaii is the heart of the surf community and the Vans Triple Crown is the grand finale of our year…how could the “biggest night is surfing” not be December 6th at the Turtle Bay Resort?”
The Surfer Poll has been described as the surfing worlds equivalent of mixing the People’s choice Awards and the Academy Awards and turning it into one raging party. The event crowns the Top 10 male surfers and the Top 5 female surfers for the year as voted on by Surfer Magazine’s readers. Prior winners have included such names as Andy Irons, Stephanie Gilmore, Tom Curren, Lisa Anderson and 15-time number 1 winner Kelly Slater.
In addition to awarding the top surfers, the night also includes a video awards show that honors the best individual performances of the year, the heaviest wipeout, the film of the year and many other highlights of this year’s top surfers, including humanitarian efforts.
Attendance at this event is limited to specially invited guests only, but everyone with an internet connection will be able to watch it for free on the internet as Surfer Magazine will provide a live webcast with behind-the-scenes and red-carpet reporting as well as exclusive interviews with the winners.
Surfer Poll 2010′s presenting sponsors are Verizon Wireless and Samsung, and additional supporters are Suzuki Auto, Red Bull Surfing, Skullcandy, New Era, Peligroso Tequila, and the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

Only one thing better than being able to vote for the top best in the sport, that is to be one of the Specially invited guests to see it all live. Aloha and Mahalo , J.J.
