Talk about a tough assignment. How would you like being assigned by your network to take on the season finale for American Idol during sweeps week, the week that sets the network’s advertising rates during the next quarter? Fox’s American Idol obviously dominated (30.9 million viewers and a 9.8 demo rating). During American Idol’s final finale hour (it was two hours long), ABC’s Cougar Town came in second place (5.3 million and a 2.0 demo rating). Those 5.3 million people, plus the millions of others that taped Cougar Town to watch it after American Idol, were treated to nearly an hour of Turtle Bay Resort and the North Shore of Oahu.
