Triple Crown Finale

What an amazing finish to the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing competition. Had Turtle Bay Resort been in the movie business (oh wait, we have been) we could have never dreamed up, with all our Hollywood contacts a scenario like this. If we did, no one would ever have ever believed it.

Let’s take a local north shore kid, John John Florence, just turned 19, that takes 5th place at Haleiwa, 1st place at Sunset and 5th place at Pipe to win the overall Triple Crown of Surfing. The youngest ever to do so. All this with his local Sunset and Kahuku alumni cheering him on

Then match that with the final event of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, the Billabong Pipe Masters, this year in memorial of Andy Irons, who has won this event multiple times…and have Kieren Perrow, who represents surfers from around the world…who has competed professionally for years without a major win and who was in jeopardy of even being disqualified to compete professionally on the pro circuit next year go ahead and win, against fellow Australian Joel Parkinson at the end of the final heat of the most prestigious surf event on earth. Even Hollywood would be skeptical in creating such a story. But that is what happened.

Those of you who were here witnessed history in the making. Those of you who want to see history in the making for next year, make your reservations now.
