Womens Pro Opening Ceremony

The SeaHawaii Womens Pro at Pipeline 2012 gets underway on Wednesday, February 29th, with its opening ceremony which will be held at Turtle Bay Resort’s Surfer, The Bar, beginning at 6:00 pm. There will be a press event, a Hawaiian Blessing (prayer), a chance to get autographs from the pros and more at this opening ceremony.

At 8:00 pm the same evening at Surfer, Jodi Wilmott will sit down and “talk story” with one of the most accomplished and interesting water women in Hawaii’s history, Kanesa Duncan Seraphin. Best known as a world paddleboard champion, having won the prestigious 32-mile Molokai to Oahu race a stunning 8 times, Kanesa also serves as University of Hawai‘i’s Sea Grant College Program Director, heading up the Center for Marine Science Education. A $5 donation is suggested, which will be donated to Kanesa’s charity of choice.

This year’s SeaHawaii Womens Pro has four contests: (1) the USBA Womens Bodyboarding Pro with a $2,000.00 Purse; (2) the ASP One Star Shortboard Womens Pro with a $10,000.00 Purse; (3) the ASP Two Star Jr. Womens Pro with a $3,000.00 Purse; and (4) ASP Two Star Mens Jr. Pro with a $10,000.00 Purse.

The official holding period runs from March 1st to March 15th. All contest events will be held at Ehukai Beach Park (Banzai Pipeline). For more information go to www.pipegirls.com.
