April 4th we celebrated the blessing and opening of our new farm to table restaurant, The North Shore Kula Grille.
The ancient Hawaiians divided their land into three sections: Mauka (mountains), Kula (midlands) and Makai (sea) known – as Ahupua‘a.
It is the Kula lands, primarily used for agriculture, that now serve as the inspiration for our new restaurant, The North Shore Kula Grille.
Here, we explore the flavors of our islands as they have been enjoyed for centuries – naturally, with organic and artisan farming and harvesting practices. Our farmers and suppliers care for the land – or ‘aina, which means “that which provides food” – in the spirit of a rich agricultural history featuring the cultivation of taro, sweet potatoes, sugar cane and bananas. These crops serve as a perfect complement to the bounty of fresh seafood, poultry and meats sourced throughout Hawaii.
