Triple Crown Climax

Vans Triple Crown of Surfing ended its 2009 season today at Pipeline. Only days after the Eddie Aikau ran on record high waves the final at Pipeline was held on rather small waves. Check out the story here.

North Shore Big Wave Beginnings

Legendary surfer Fed Hemmings & ’60s photographer Tim McCullough will be at Turtle Bay Resort’s Sunset Room Thursday evening, December 10th, at 7:30 pm for an entertaining “talk story” about surfing’s Big Wave Beginnings on the North Shore. Admission is Free.
Stay and Bus It!

A great way to enjoy the Triple Crown of Surfing is to stay at Turtle Bay Resort and take the city bus to the contests. That’s what I did and I was able to easily enjoy the opening day of the O’Neill World Cup and the Gidget Pro at Sunset Beach. Check out the details with pictures here.
Too Big to Surf

A massive north swell hit the island of O’ahu on November 25, 2009, forcing Turtle Bay Resort to close its beach activities and the Triple Crown of Surfing to cancel its contests. LOST films anyway. Check out the waves in this video clip.
Million Dollar Triple Crown

The winter surf is starting to roll in with its annual fury upon the North Shore of Oahu, signaling the start of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. This year’s purse has hit an all time surfing record of $1,000,000. This year’s final event at Pipeline looks to pit fellow Australians Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning against each other in a final showdown for the ASP World Title.
